Construction of 40km road well in progress

  Gondar January 18/2013 Construction of 40km road launched in Janamora Woreda, North Gondar Zone of Amhara State with over 20 million Birr allocated by the government is well in progress, the woreda rural roads office said. Office representative, Melkamu Mersha told ENA on Friday that the road, being constructed through the Universal Rural Road Access Program (URRAP), interconnects seven rural localities with main road. Melkamu said construction of the road is being carried out in collaboration with the government and the public. Construction of the road created temporary jobs for more than 700 residents. Upon going fully operational in February 2013, the road will benefit close to 40,000 residents. Residents are providing labour support for construction of the road. URRAP is part of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), designed to construct roads interconnecting all rural localities in the country.
