Ambo January 18 /2013 More than 1200 farmers engaged in apiary in Gendeberet Woreda of West Shoa Zone in Oromia State secured over 4.3 million Birr from sale of 86,244 Kg honey during the last six months, the woreda Animal Health Office said.
Office Representative, Bayisa Buleto told ENA on Friday that the amount surpassed by half a million Birr that of same time last year.
The farmers are engaged in bee keeping side by side with farming.
Each farmer managed to earn up to 8,000 Birr additional income Bayisa said.
Awareness raising trainings provided to the farmers helped to increase the income, he said.
