Gambella January 17/2013 Gambella State supplied 700kg gold to the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) during the last six months, the state mines agency said.
The agency told ENA on Thursday that over 36 million USD was secured from sale of the gold excavated by traditional miners.
The amount exceeded by six million USD that of last year.
It said over 90 per cent of the stated amount of gold comes from Dima Woreda while the remaining from Abobo, Gambella Town and its surrounding as well as Mengesh Woreda.
Activities are underway to supply 1500kg gold to the Bank in the remaining six months of the current Ethiopian year, the agency said.
