Addis Ababa January 17/2013 Preparations are finalized to mark the 14th Pastoralists’ Day in Yabello Town, Borena Zone of Oromia State, 575km away from Addis Ababa, from 24-26 January 2013, the Federal Affairs Ministry said.
Federal Affairs State Minister, Mulugeta Wuletaw said here Thursday that higher level officials of the federal and regional governments, representatives of pastoral communities, domestic and international development partners, universities and research institutions, religious leaders and private investors, among others, attend the event.
Mulugeta said the event will be a forum enabling representatives of pastoral communities and government officials discuss on different issues.
The Minister said it will also help pastoralists share experiences and expand best practices in fodder, vegetable and fruit development, among others.
The aim of celebrating the day is to further strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among pastoralists thereby promote their cultures.
The Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency will give direct coverage to the event.
The 13th Pastoralists Day was celebrated in Jinka Town, South Omo Zone of South Ethiopia Peoples’ State 23-24 January 2011.
