Batu January 17/2013 Agriculture Development Office of West Arssi Zone, Oromia State said it has started a month long natural resource conservation campaign on 140,000 hectares land.
Office Deputy Head, Tesfaye Wakjira told ENA that more than 403,400 people are taking part in the campaign, which is being carried out on the stated area of land in 324 rural localities.
Tesfaye said the activities include building of terraces and ditches as well as rehabilitation of 21,000 hectares land.
According to the Deputy Head, more than 120 million tree seedlings will be transplanted in the coming three years with a view to raising forest coverage in the zone.
