Farmers earn over 150 mln. Birr from sale of fattened animals

  Goba January 14/2013 More than 26,000 farmers engaged in animal fattening in Bale Zone, Oromia State have secured over 150 million Birr from sale of over 84,000 fattened animals during the last six months, the zonal animal resource development and health office said. An expert with the office, Aschalew Tesera told ENA Monday that over 9000 of the farmers are women. Aschalew said the amount exceeded by 19 million Birr while the number of fattened animals supplied to market surpassed by 25,000 that of last year. Farmers in Sinana Woreda of the zone on their parts said they will supply over 180,000 fattened animals to market in the current Ethiopian budget year. There are more than two million domestic animals in the zone.
