Bahir Dar January 12/2013 Amhara State is nurturing over three billion tree seedlings to be transplanted in the coming main rainy season, the regional agriculture bureau said.
The bureau told ENA on Friday that the seedlings are being nurtured at governmental and non-governmental seedling nurturing centers.
The seedlings will be transplanted on over 361,100 hectares land in the state.
It said the seedlings are being nurtured as part of the ongoing activities to increase forest coverage to 12 per cent from the present 9.9 per cent in the state.
Some 72.5 per cent of the total 1.4 billion tree seedlings transplanted in the state last year have already taken roots, it said.
