Addis Ababa January 11/2013 The 60km Hargele gravel road constructed in Somali regional state with over 428 million Birr has gone operational, the Ethiopian Roads Authority said.
Communication Director with the Authority, Samson Wondimu told ENA on Friday that the road is part of the Hargele-Dolobay-DoloOdo road project contract.
Samson said the road links Hargele and Dolobay Woredas in Afder Zone of the state and also contributes to animal husbandry and crop development being carried out by pastoralists in the areas.
The road is constructed in the area, which has no access to roads.
The government covered the full cost for construction of the road, Samson said.
Construction of the road is completed eight months ahead of schedule, the director said.
