Woldia January 11/2013 Some 15,000 farmers are developing over 10,000 hectares land through irrigation in Mekdela Woreda, South Wollo Zone of Amhara State, the woreda agriculture office said.
The office said the farmers are cultivating vegetables and fruits as well as spices, among others, on the stated area of land.
It said they expect to harvest over 350,000 quintals output from the area being developed through irrigation.
Some 5000 of the farmers are women, the office said.
