Bahir dar January 10/2013 Integrated natural resource development activities are underway on 1.5 million hectares land in Amhara State, the regional agriculture development office said.
The office said construction of terraces and dikes as well as nurturing of over three billion seedlings is being carried out as part of the natural resource development activities.
It said six million farmers are taking part in the activities. Two million of the stated number of farmers are women.
The natural resource development activities will be carried out until next month.
Soil and water conservation activity was undertaken on 1.1 million hectares land last year in the state, the office said, adding, over 4.4 million people took part in the activity, the office said.
