Addis Ababa September 21/2012 President Girma Woldgiorgis called on Burundi to further strengthen relation with Ethiopia.
While holding talks with departing Burundian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Epiphanie Kabushemeye Ntamwana, President Girma said the ties of the two countries is flourishing with time.
He said the two countries have established firm cooperation to fight Al Shabab.
According to him, the current relation should further be strengthened to the level of people to people ties.
Both countries have come along way to thrive peace and security in East Africa, the President said and adding, they should exert tireless efforts to further bolster their relation, according to a diplomat from Foreign Affairs Minister.
After the discussion, Ambassador Epiphany said the Ethiopian government has been cooperative during her tenure in Addis Ababa.
She has exerted utmost effort to thrive the ties of the two countries Ethiopia and Burundi, she said and added the signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in defense sector is among her biggest achievement.
She commended Ethiopian Airlines for its uninterrupted flight to Burundian Capital, Bujumbura, and strengthening air transport between the two countries.
According to her, Ethiopia is transforming its economy and bringing development.
The Ambassador said the untimely death of PM Meles Zenawi is a big loss to Ethiopia and Africa. However, she said Ethiopia will sustain the current speedy development.
