Addis Ababa October 26/2013 The Ethiopian Space Science Society said it has started to install two telescopes at Entoto Observatory and Space Science Research Center on Thursday.
Earth observation Department Head, Dr. Tulu Beshat said the mid space telescopes will help the country to perform scientific researches.
The telescopes will boost space science researches and help the nation to produce skilled human power in cultural astronomy space science, observational and theoretical astronomy, among others.
The installation of the telescopes will enable the country become extensive user of space science in various developmental activities, including telecommunications, meteorology and education, among others, he said.
The telescopes will provide the country a capacity to use its own satellite technology for TV and telecommunications services, Dr. Tulu said.
Established in 2004 with only 49 members, the Ethiopian Space Science Society now has about 1,800 members which comprises of physicists, mathematicians, astrophysicists, engineers, politicians, businesspersons and students, among others.
