Addis Ababa October 9/2013 The newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to the African Union Reuben E. Brigety, II on Monday presented his credentials to AU Commission Chairperson, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, AU said.
Ambassador Brigety will also serve as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Brigety served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of African Affairs with responsibility for Southern African and Regional Security Affairs.
He has also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.
In this capacity, he supervised U.S. refugee programs in Africa, managed U.S. humanitarian diplomacy with major international partners, and oversaw the development of international migration policy.
