Bahir Dar October 07/2013 Water Resource Development Bureau of Amhara State said it has set target to construct close to 15,000 safe water facilities at a cost of over 321 million Birr during this fiscal year.
Bureau Head, Zemene Tsehay told ENA on Saturday that digging of medium and deep water wells and development of springs are among the projects to be carried out during the reported period.
Up on going fully operational at the end of this year, the facilities will benefit more than two million people.
The facilities are also expected to raise the safe water coverage to 83 percent from the current 67 percent.
Some 9,000 safe water facilities constructed in the State during the 2005EC budget year benefited over one million people, he said.
