Mizan September 20/2013 Over 38 million coffee seedlings were transplanted on over
15, 000 hectares land in Benchi Majji Zone, South Ethiopia Peoples' State during the recent main rainy season, the zonal agriculture department said.
Coffee development main work process representative with the department, Kassaye Abebe said the area of land covered with coffee seedlings exceeded by over 700 hectares that of the previous year.
According to him, some 29,000 farmers and pastoralists of whom 1740 are females transplanted the seedlings.
Over 6,000 tons of compost was utilized to increase productivity, he said.
