Addis Ababa August 20/2013 Acting US Peace Corps Director, Carrie Hessler-Radelet on Monday visited Peace Corps training site in Butajira, South Ethiopia Peoples' State.
Hessler-Radelet on the occasion said that the Peace Corps will continue to support the efforts of the Ethiopian government in the areas of education, health and environment.
Volunteers of the Peace Corps are providing support in those areas in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray and South Ethiopia Peoples' States, she said.
US Peace Corps Country Director, Greg Engle on his part said the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has allocated 2.2 million US dollar to support activities in education, health and environment protection in Ethiopia.
More than 3,150 Peace Corps volunteers have served in Ethiopia since the establishment of the program in 1962.
