Hawassa August 17/2013 The Financial Accountability and Transparency Program, which is being implemented throughout the country to promote dissemination of financial information to the public is showing progress, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development said.
In a relevant meeting held in Hawassa Town, South Ethiopia Peoples' State, Expenditure Management and Control Program Office Head with Ministry, Musa Mohamed said government institutes have been disseminating budgetary information to the public through bill boards, conferences and the media.
He said the participation of the public in monitoring government budget and expenditure at all levels is showing improvement, since the launching of the program three years ago.
The public is monitoring weather the budget allocated to undertake development activities and promotion of good governance is used for the intended purpose, he added.
Finance and economic development bureau heads drawn from the nine regional states and Addis Ababa and DireDawa City Administrations took part in the two-day meeting organized to evaluate the achievements of the program.
