Gondar August 16/2013 Over 47,000 farmers ensured food security from productive safety net program in North Gondar Zone, Amhara State, during the concluded budget year, Zonal Food Security Office.
Over 200,000 farmers are being undertaking various development activities to ensure sustainable food security.
Farmers earned over 12 million Birr loan and training skills in a bid to engage in different developmental activities.
Abdella Nurhussien, Office representative, said that farmers participating in small scale irrigation, animal husbandry, apiculture, and other mixed agricultural activities are managed to ensure food security and able to accumulate wealth.
Safety net programs help farmers to change their life in West Belesa and Janamora woredas, Abdella added.
