Goba August 16/2013 Bale mountain national park said that Five Eco-tourism associations secured close to 500,000 Birr from rendering services to tourists during the concluded fiscal year.
Tourism Expert with the Park, Geremew Mebratu, told ENA that associations earned the income by renting pack animals, tents and cooking materials to visitors.
Organized in five eco-tourism associations, 82 Dinsho wereda residents secured the stated amount, Geremew said.
Geremew added that the amount of profit gained this year exceeded by more than 10,000 Birr compared to that of last year.
Bale Mountains National Park is the host of many Ethiopian endemic fauna and flora species like dear, red fox and Bale apes.
Bale Mountains National Park is one of the world natural heritage sites registered by UNESCO (United Nation Education Science Cultural Organization).
