West Shoa Zone, March 14, 2010 (Ambo) - Registration of voters and nominees was successful in 855 polling stations estalbished in 11 constituencies of West Shoa Zone, Oromia State, zonal election coordination office said.Office coordinator, Hundesa Madessa told ENA on Saturday that 519,805 electorates have registered to cast votes in the upcoming elections. Some 251,383 of the voters are women.
The coordinator said eight political parties contesting in the zone have fielded 177 nominees. Some 56 of the nominees run for parliamentary seats while 121 others compete for seats in regional councils.
He said 14 of the nominees are females.
So far there is no complaint from political parties concerning the election process, Hundesa said.
