Revenue authority collects fingerprints of over 174,600 taxpayers: Official
Hawassa, March 13, 2010 (Hawassa) - Revenue Authority of the South Ethiopia People’ State said it has collected the fingerprints of more that 174,600 taxpayers during the first half of the current fiscal year.

Speaking at a relevant meeting held in Durame town of the state, authority head Mogus Balcha said collection of the fingerprints aims at institutionalizing an efficient system of tax collection across the state.

He said the authority envisages collecting the fingerprints of 320,000 taxpayers living in 15 zones and special woredas of the state during the current fiscal year.

Meanwhile, he said, the authority said it has collected more than 411 million Birr in revenue from direct tax and non-tax sources during the reported time.

The stated amount of revenue secured this year exceeded the revenue collected during the previous year of the same period by 104 million Birr. According to the head, the authority has a plan to collect 1.2 billion Birr in revenue during the current Ethiopian budget year.
