Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervisory Agency said public business enterprises secured 744.9 million Birr gross profit during the first half of the current fiscal year.
Some 80 public enterprises secured 14.6 billion Birr income from sales of products and services during the reported time surpassing the set target by 0.5 billion Birr, corporate communication director with the agency, Wondafrash Assefa told ENA.
According to the head, public business enterprises secured more than 743.1 million Birr foreign currency from sales of services to foreign countries during the last six months exceeding the set target by 151.3 million birr.
The head attributed the success mainly to profitability of beverage, mining, chemical, and leather manufacturing enterprises as well as reduction of losses on behalf of the agricultural business enterprises.
