Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) said renovation of ten main roads of the country has been underway at a cost of over 12.9 billion Birr.

Some 1,131-km roads located in different parts of the nation are being renovated at present, information and public relations service head with the authority, Samson Wondimu told ENA.

He said the roads under renovation project included, among others, the Addis Ababa-Debrebirhan, Debrebirhan-Tarmaber, Alaba-Humbo, Houmbo-Arbaminch, Ambo-Gedo, Gedo-Bako, Bako-Nekempt, and Kombolcha-Woldiya roads.

For instance, the 180-km Addis Ababa-Tarmaber road is being upgraded to an asphalt concrete road, he said, asphalting the 100-km Assossa-Kumruk road is also well in progress at present.

According to the head, the road sector development program (RSDP) of the nation has been upgrading the various routes of the country over the last 12 years.
