Meles holds talks with visiting US official
Addia Ababa, March 4, 2010 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi received and held discussion on Thursday with United State’s Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Bureau, Karl Wycoff.

After receiving the visiting US official at his office, Meles held fruitful discussion with Karl Wycoff as to how to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in political, security, and economic sectors.

The two parties also shared ideas on the current crisis in Somalia, Darfur region, and on other regional and international issues of common interest, according to a senior government official who attended the discussion.

Meles reaffirmed to Wycoff that Ethiopia, as a neighboring country, will continue supporting efforts geared toward ensuring a lasting peace and stability in Somalia and in Darfur, the Sudan.

The premier also reiterated to the US official that the government of Ethiopia is working day and night toward making the 4th National Elections due to be conducted in May 2010 free, fair, and credible on the part of the electorates.

Wycoff told journalists that he shared valuable ideas with the premier on Ethio-US cooperation as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
