500 Million Birr Water Projects Go Operational in Amhara
Bahir Dar, July 28, 2010 (Bahir Dar) -

Potable water projects that had been undertaken in 30 towns of Amhara State at the cost of over 500 million Birr went into operation, the State Water Resource Bureau said.

Public Relation Department Head with the Bureau, Asnake Akalneh told ENA on Wednesday that the projects are expected to serve more than 486,000 people for the next 15 - 20 years.

Asnake said some 374 million Birr out of the stated sum was secured from the regional government while the balance was covered by the government of Germany.

The projects have managed to push the clean water coverage of the State to 90 percent, he said.
