Addis Ababa, January 30, 2010 (Addis Ababa) - A media complex built at a cost of over 60 million Birr by Radio Fana was inaugurated here on Saturday. Radio also celebrated its 15th founding anniversaryThe complex is equipped with latest media technology worth 15 million Birr.
The Complex was inaugurated by Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, Addisu Legesse.
Speaking on the occasion, Addisu said the genesis of Radio Fana dates back to 1972 EC under the name of Voice of Tigray Revolution.
He said Ethiopians had paid sacrifices for freedom of expression.
Addisu said the government would continue to further strengthen its efforts aimed at ensuring the free flow of information.
He said he has no a shred of doubt that Radio Fana would contribute its share to help make the forthcoming national elections free, fair, peaceful and democratic.
Speaking on his part, Radio Fana General Manager, Woldu Yimesel said his media outlet is celebrating its anniversary under a theme "For building the Nation and Satisfying Customers."
He said Radio Fana has been contributing its efforts geared towards strengthening democracy and fight poverty through the involvement of the public.
