The Founder and president of the African American Ethnic Sport Hall of Fame, (AAESHF) a US-based organization said Ethiopia has shown great improvement in all sectors; particularly in the area of construction.

The organization held its first Annual Ethiopian Induction Ceremony here last Friday for three prominent Ethiopian athletes.

While on the ceremony, African American Ethnic Sport Hall of Fame organization, Arif Khatib said Ethiopia has shown great improvement in all sectors.

He said he is impressed about the booming construction of roads and high-rise buildings in Addis Ababa, being undertaken extensively.

Khatib came to Ethiopia for the fourth time and in his earlier visit he never seen a significant changes but now he has observed a very promising development in Addis Ababa.

He also added the country has a number of tourist destinations and its people are very hospitable. Therefore, he said, “When I get back to my home country, I will try to reflect the true image of the country through my publications and web site”.

He further said, “I will come back soon to visit tourist attractions of the country and I advise others to visit too”.

Consultant and Travel Assistance with the organization, Debi Mekonnen said it is very surprising to look at such constructions in city. She said, “A real change has come to Addis Ababa”.

She said “I have been in America for 18 years and now I have already decided to get back to my home country because things in Ethiopia are very encouraging to invest. The country’s investment policy is also very bonanza to attract investors," she added.

The inductees were long distance runner Haile Gebreselassie, the late Abebe Bikila, and the late Mamo Wolde.

The mission of AAESHF is to broaden the public’s understanding of African-American/Ethnic history and the role of diversity and cultural tolerance in the growth of professional sports.
