Some 182 investors with over 874 million Birr combined capital have received licenses in the current Ethiopian budget year to engage in various investment activities in Gambella Region, regional investment agency said.

Agency representative, Aemero Mekuria told ENA that the investors received the licenses to engage in agriculture, agro-industry, construction, health, and hotel and tourism sectors.

The representative said most of the investment projects are in agriculture sector.

Number of investors, who received licenses during the reported period, has exceeded by three fold that of same time last year.

He said upon going fully operational the projects are expected to create permanent and temporary jobs for more than 74,000 citizens

Some 290 foreign and local investors with over 3.8 billion birr combined capital have been engaged in various investment activities in the region.

Activities carried out to promote investment alternatives, efficient services, and reliable peace in the region enabled to increase the number of investors, the representative said.
