Bahir Dar University graduates 3,766 persons with master's degree, first degree, diplomas
Bahir Dar, July 4, 2009 (Bahir Dar) - Bahir Dar University, one of the state-owned higher learning institutions, said it has begun trial implementation of business process re-engineering (BPR) program with a view to providing efficient and timely services within itself.

University president, Dr. Yeshimebrat Mersha the university has been exerting utmost efforts toward expanding higher education while improving the quality and relevance of higher learning by putting efficient and time working procedure into force.

The president made the statement here on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of 3,766 persons with master’s degree, first degree, and diploma upon completion of relevant training. Some 76 of the graduates receive Master’s degrees.

Hence, she said, the university has already launched trail implementation of the BPR in five sections in a bid to provide efficient services to customers.

She said the university has a plan to receive 19,846 students in the regular education program only during the coming academic year. The university has already finalized preparations to launch seven additional Master’s and three PhD degree programs, according to the president.

Amhara State Education Bureau Head, Tilaye Ghetie, who is also board member of the university, said on the occasion the university shall remain duty bound in producing problem-solving, creative, and responsible citizens in the years ahead.
