Addis Ababa, February 9, 2009 (Addis Ababa) - Ethiopia's first ever Cardiac Hospital would be inaugurated on Feb.12, 2009, Director of the hospital Dr. Belay Abegaz said. In a press conference he gave here on Monday, Dr. Belay said the establishment of the hospital in Ethiopia would help significantly reduce child mortality due to heart complications and diseases.
The hospital is already providing treatments to cardiac patients in the country and relevant training to professionals, he said.
The director expressed gratitude to Ethiopia’s tycoon, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Ali Al Amoudi for his invaluable support for the construction, deployment of necessary equipment and human power.
The director also expressed appreciation for the public and the Media for their contribution to the successful completion of the hospital.
The hospital that is equipped with modern medical equipment has so far provided heart treatment to 16 people.
Dr. Belay said a cornerstone would also be laid down as part of the inaugural ceremony for the construction of cardiac research centre.
