Addis to host 6th African Development Forum
Addis Ababa, November 6, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The 6th African Development Forum (ADF VI) would be held here in Addis Ababa from Nov. 19 to 21 2008, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) said.

The theme for this year's Forum is "Action on gender equality, empowerment and ending violence against women in Africa", ECA told ENA on Thursday.

The Forum would provide an opportunity to review the progress made on women issues at national, sub-regional and regional levels.

It said ADF VI, which is being organized by the ECA and the AU, in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) is also expected to come up with a plan of action that will provide clear recommendation on how to achieve the intended goals.

ADF was initiated in 1999 as a multi-stakeholder platform for building consensus on identified key challenges of African development and the strategies for overcoming them.
