Millennium national youth festival to be held in Addis
Addis Ababa, May 14, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports said the millennium national youth festival would be held here in the metropolis soon.

Youth Associations and NGOs Coordination Department head, Haileleul Seyoum said the festival would be held from May 25-28, 2008.

The main objective of the festival is to create national consensus among youth by facilitating a forum for them to share experience and discuss their problems.

The government has earmarked more than two million Birr budget for the festival, he said.

The head said youths who registered encouraging results by engaging in various income generating schemes and youths who are selected for their exemplary deeds would be awarded in the festival.

Some 3,000 youths drawn from Regional States and senior government officials would take part in the festival.

Panel discussions, various sport contests and candle night would be held as part of the festival.
