Ethiopian female athletes pick gold, silver of 5,000 meter race at AAC |

Addis Ababa, May 1, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Ethiopian athlete Meselech Melkamu picked the gold medal at the women’s 5000m race at the 16th African Athletics Championship being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Olympic, world, All-African, and African 5000m champion Mesert Defar clocking stood second finishing the race 15:50:19 following the quick spread finish by Meselech Melkamu. Ethiopian women athletes repeated the glimmer victory of men’s 10,000 meter and made the victory home sweet.
