Addis Ababa, March 24, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The visit Prime Minister Meles Zenawi paid to investment sites in the country is an indicator of the attention the government has given to private investment, investors engaged in flower development said.Owner of the Dugda Floriculture Development Plc., Adugna Bekele told ENA on Monday that the visit Prime Minister Meles paid at the company's flower farm would have a meaningful contribution in the future activities of the farm.
The visit would contribute for the efforts being made by the company and pertinent government bodies to find out solutions for problems being encountered in the sector.
As the company is holding monthly discussions with pertinent government bodies on problems witnessed in the sector, no major obstacle has so far been encountered so far, Adugna said.
Dugda Floriculture Development Plc, which is currently engaged in additional expansion works, is earning over two million USD annually. The Company has more than 600 employees.
Board Member of the Ethiopian Horticultural Producers and Exporters Association (EHPEA), Solomon Habtu also said that the government has played a remarkable role in bringing the flower sector to its current stage.
The Premiers visit at the flower development sites is an indicator of the bright future of the sector, Solomon added.
EHPEA that embraces 70 companies has created job opportunities to more than 70,000 Ethiopians.
