Addis Ababa, March 24, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said that the development activities in the country are being undertaken in away that is encouraging and promising. Meles on Monday visited flower farms and activities being executed in tourism sector by investors around Bishoftu town.
The Premier told ENA after the visit that the development works he visited are all in good shape.
Several development starts and activities are being witnessed in various parts of the country, Meles said, and described the situation as very hopeful and promising.
The Premier said he has noticed during his visit that most of the development works are being implemented in accordance with the development strategy designed by the government.
Dams and sugar factory construction projects worth over billions of Birr are under construction in Awash River basin by Government Development Organizations, Meles said.
He said that the efforts being exerted by the Bishoftu town administration and owners of hotels to improve the tourism activities in the area are exemplary.
The Premier urged other areas to follow suit.
Government officials at all levels are holding periodical discussions with investors engaged in flower production, Meles mentioned, and added that the government is committed to support the sector that has registered a notable progress within a short period of time.
