Debrebirhan, March 22, 2008 (Debrebirhan) - World Vision Ethiopia, a non governmental organization, said it has been executing various development projects in Efrata and Gedem woreda, North Shewa Zone of the Amhara State at a cost of over 34 million birr.Woreda development program general manager with the organization, Abraham Assefa told ENA that the organization under its five year program has been executing projects in the areas, among others, of agriculture, health, safe water, and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
The organization has been distributing hybrid cattle and improved varieties of coffee, fruits and vegetable with a view to helping ensure food security.
The organization has also sunk 12 water wells, constructed three veterinary posts and dams for irrigation,
Construction of a new primary school is about to complete. The organization previously had constructed three primary schools in the woreda.
It has been providing food, medical treatment, educational materials and clothes to over 1000 needy children. It was planning also to construct four water points, two health posts and 330 pit latrines.
