Humera, March 14, 2008 (Humera) - Eight persons died instantly and 27 others sustained severe and light injuries after a bomb attached to a passenger bus heading from Humera to Shire towns of the Tigray State exploded early on Thursday, the police said.The bomb, which is said to be planted by the puppets of the Eritrean regime, took the lives of innocent civilians including an eleven-year-old child at around 7:15 am local time, a statement from the Humera town police disclosed.
The Eritrean regime, which is alarmed by the exodus of Eritrean youth and soldiers into Ethiopia, has been trying to destabilize the area, according to the statement.
However, the police said the police, the security, and the local people have repeatedly been foiling the attempts of the Eritrean-Sponsored terrorists, it said.
Meanwhile, it said, a bomb attached to a heavy-duty truck, which was entering to Ethiopia from Gedeharif town, the Sudan with 500 packages ‘Henna’, exploded late on 24 Feb. 2008 but with no causality on human lives.
Through the people Humera feel heartfelt sorrow over the victims of innocent compatriots, the people peacefully continue their day-to-day lives, police noted.
The puppets of the Eritrean regime may not refrain from doing terrorist activities in the future, it said, adding the local people in collaboration with the security forces should stand firm against such anti peace moves.
