Axum, March 14, 2008 (Axum) - Various development projects are being executed in Tigray State at a cost of 264.9 million birr earmarked to attain food security, the state agriculture and rural development bureau said. Speaking at a relevant meeting, disaster prevention and preparedness section head with the bureau, Fireweyni Assefa said the budget is allocated to conserve natural resources in the state.
More than 1.4 million people are taking part in the implementation of the projects, she said.
Encouraging activities are being carried out in north, west and central zones of the state in the efforts to implement the projects, executive bodies of the respective zonal administrations said.
Administrative bodies of south and east zones of the state held similar meeting last week.
