Over 16,000 tourists visit Harari State in six months
Harar, March 14, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Over 16,000 local and foreign tourists have visited historical sites in Harari State over the past six months, the state culture, tourism and information bureau said.

Tourism department head with the bureau, Abdunasir Endris told ENA that the state secured over six million birr from tourism sector during the reported period. The tourists visited historical sites particularly the Jegol Wall during the reported period.

The number of tourists visiting the area has been increasing from time to time. Efforts are being made to fulfill necessary facilities for tourists.

The new Ethiopian Millennium celebration helped to attract more tourists to the area.

The bureau has published and distributed leaflets and magazines in five languages with a view to promoting the historical and cultural heritages in the state.
