Parties go into electioneering
Addis Ababa, March 9, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Three political parties in Harari State have commenced electioneering for the upcoming local and national by election, State’s election board office said.

Office head, Abudlhakim Abdurhamn told ENA that the parties running in the State are the Harari National League, the Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organization (OPDO), the Ethiopian Democratic Unity Party (EDUP-Medhin). Individual contestants are also launched election campaign.

Some 40 percent of the 1,586 candidates are females, he said.

The parties are campaigning in accordance with the electoral laws of the country, he said.

Over 67,800 eligible voters took voters IDs in the state, he recalled.
