Global Fund Chairman to visit Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, March 6, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Chairman of Global Fund, Rajat Gupta is expected to arrive in Addis Ababa on a four-day official visit on March 6, 2008, the Ministry of Health said

While here, Gupta would hold discussion with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, senior authorities of the Ministry of Health and representatives of t other development partners operating in the health sector.

The Ministry said the Fund is providing financial and technical assistance to health sector development in Ethiopia

The fund is working world wide in prevention of tuberculosis (TB), malaria and HIV/AIDS.

The fund has been providing over 10 billion USD in 136 countries world wide for diseases prevention activities.

The fund would provide Anti- Retroviral Treatment (ART) to 1.8 million people living with the virus and canopies to 109 million people in the world in the coming five years.
