Voters' registration continues
Ambo, January 29, 2008 (Ambo) - Some 301,660 eligible voters in West Shoa Zone have got registered for the upcoming local and national by-elections, the Zonal election board coordinator said.

Belay Kidane told ENA that the stated number of voters has taken their voter IDs from 890 polling stations established in the Zone.

More than 137,400 of the people who got registered in Zone are females.

Similarly, about 187,000 people in Oromia Zone of Amhara State have so far been registered to cast votes in the forthcoming election, the Zonal election coordination board said.

Some 94,000 of the people who have received voter IDs are females.

Meanwhile some 452,000 voters in West Arsi Zone have got registered for the election scheduled for April, the Zonal election board coordinator said.

Matios Bedasso said the stated number of voters has received voter IDs from 903 polling stations till January 28, 2008.

He called upon the public to get registered as per schedule.
