Meles speaks of government's readiness to closely work with investors in floriculture sector
Addis Ababa, January 28, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said the government would work jointly with investors engaged in floriculture sector with a view to expanding the country's flower export.

During a discussion held with the investors at the Prime Ministers office on Monday, Meles said that the government would scale up ongoing efforts to search for international market aiming at making the country's floriculture industry successful.

The government would attach due attention to expand the country's flower export market to Japan, Russia and other Far East countries in addition to Holland and Germany markets.

The government is ready to provide all the necessary incentives for those investors who would want to be engaged in the sector.

Meles affirmed the government’s commitment to solve any problem related to investment land and finance in the sector.

He said it would also provide due attention to the provision of short and long-term training with a view to alleviating shortage of professionals in the sector.

In addition to the floriculture sector, the government would also provide attention to the fruit and vegetable sector.

The Premier gave a detailed briefing and replies to questions forwarded by the investors in areas of market, land and loan service, VAT, shortage of experts and capacity building in the sector.
