Bahir Dar, January 21, 2008 (Bahir Dar) - Investors with an aggregate capital of 775 million birr have requested plots of land to engage in floriculture and horticulture developments in Amhara state, the regional investment expansion Agency said.Agricultural and mining projects monitoring and support expert with the agency, Daniel Terefe told ENA that the 21 investment projects are to be launched on 1,700 hectares of land in Bahir Dar and the environs.
Some 15 of the projects are designed in floriculture development while the remaining in horticulture development.
The requests of the investors are the first in the sector, promising to create jobs to over 18,000 people.

The Bahir Dar Airport is undertaking activities with a view to launch cargo services and starting international flights.
