Addis Ababa, January 14, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mine met and held discussions with members of the Ethiopian business community here on Monday.The 17 member Iranian delegation that includes President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mine, Seyed Shemesudin Khareghani attended the discussion held at the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA).
ECCSA President Getachew Ayenew during the discussion noted that Ethiopia and Iran have long standing economic and cultural relations.
Ethiopia is a country endowed with various lucrative investment opportunities, particularly in the areas of agriculture, livestock, agro processing, industry, mining, construction and tourism sectors.
Moreover, he said Ethiopia is among countries that put in place policies and regulations that encourage foreign investment.
The visit made by the Iranian delegation is would further deepen the economic ties of the two countries on the one hand and that of the Ethiopian and Iranian Chambers on the other.
President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mine, Seyed Shemesudin Khareghani for his part said that Iran is exporting various products to the international market.
The President also underlined that Ethiopia has the potential to attract foreign investors as it is an African trade center.
