OPDO to field 83,000 candidates in E. Zone
Adama, January 14, 2008 (Adama) - The Oromo People Democratic Organization (OPDO) said it has delegated 83,000 candidates in East Zone of Oromia State for the upcoming local and national by-elections, Zonal youth and women league coordinator said.

The coordinator Abeje Mengehsa told ENA on Monday that OPDO is to field 83,400 candidates in the upcoming elections at 832 polling stations.

The candidates of which 30,370 are women, are believed to ensure sustainable development, good governance andwomen's overall participation.

He said OPDO is working to make the election successful.
