Zone prepares nearly 7 million coffee seedlings
Negelle, January 3, 2008 (Negelle) - Nearly seven million coffee seedlings have been prepared to be planted in Borena Zone of Oromia State during the current year, the zonal agriculture and rural development office said.

Office head, Melecha Loge told ENA recently that over five million of the seedlings were nurtured on farmers' plots.

The seedlings will be transplanted on 2000 hectares of land in three coffee growing woredas of the zone.

Relevant training is being given to farmers that will take part in the coffee plantation.

The zone has harvested more than 120,000 quintals of coffee during the current year.

Some 22,000 hectares of the total 29,000 hectares of land favorable for coffee plantation in the zone has been covered with coffee plantation.

Some 44,000 farmers are being participated in coffee development.
