Addis Ababa, February 19, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Sadako Ogata, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), former head of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will be visiting Ethiopia from 19th February. JICA told ENA in a statement that Ogata will hold a dialogue on "Present Condition and Perspective of African Development from the View Point of Human Security," with Professor Alpha Oumar Konare, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
For recent several years, Africa is progressing faster than before and there is sign of self-reliance development of Africa, it said.
Under this changing circumstances, the Japanese government will host TICAD IV (Tokyo International Conference for African Development IV) from May 28 to 30, 2008 and G8 Toyako Summit from July 7 to 9, 2008.
Taking this occasion before those important conference and summit, Ogata would like to exchange views on recent African development and human security with AU Permanent Representatives and its Partners.
