Addis Ababa, February 19, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - State Minister of Women’s Affairs urged women to actively participate in the efforts being made to alleviate poverty.Ubah Mohammed said women should do their level best in the nation's development endeavor by actively involving in economic sectors.
The State Minister made the statement here on Tuesday in a discussion forum on the Ethiopian Women Development and Change Package organized by Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC).
She said the package is designed in a way that it could participate and benefit both city and rural women.
It has also given due attention to the participation of women in the development arena.
Though various activities executed to involve and benefit women in various development sectors including education and health are bearing fruits, a lot is still remained to be done, according to Ubah.
The State Minister briefed about the significance of the package and related issues.
Legal Service department manager with ETC, Tessema Gadisa for his part said that the government has been taking various measures with a view to enabling women benefit from ongoing development by taking part in it.
