Meles confers with US Commander
Addis Ababa, December 18, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi here on Thursday discussed with US Commander For combined Joint Task Force of Horn of Africa Rear Admiral Philip Greene on ways of further strengthening the existing Ethio-US military relations.

The discussion focused on facilitating conditions to enable military academies of the two countries share experiences.

Meles said the relations between the countries will contribute a lot to strengthen Ethiopian military capacity, a senior government official who attended the discussion told journalists.

The training that Ethiopian military academies obtained from their US counterparts will also strengthen overall development of the nation.

Commander Green on his part said US is keen to work with Ethiopia in military training, common security and capacity building among other areas.

The commander said he discussed with Meles on ways to further intensifying existing cooperation, which is based on mutual interest.
